I participated in my church's Holiday Festival, selling artquilt bags. Hmm, you might ask, what are those? Well, they are journal sized quilts (approx 8x12) that are sewn onto a zippered cotton tote bag as an outside pocket. I have had so much fun making them because I get to play with different fabrics and a different design in a very short amount of time. I appreciate large quilts, but I rarely can keep my interest in making one; these small quilts keep my interest and have a purpose to boot! The bags were well received and I got two orders for a messenger bag design; basically just a longer adjustable strap. I'm in the process of opening an etsy shop so checkout "franciful.etsy.com" soon!Sunday, December 5, 2010

Very nice bags, I have done the same thing with a couple of my small pieces. It's a great way to get your small things out to use them. It's also great advertising!
Beautiful bags and what a fabulous idea for displaying your LFCs (layered fabric creations aka art quilts). Keep up the good work and your etsy store is a great start for you as well. You go, girl!!!
I struggle with making stuff that's "useful", too. What a great way to utilize something beautiful. I'll be checking out your Etsy shop.
