I'm squeaking this post in before the end of the month....keeping my goal of posting once per month. I bought the elephant batik piece in a park in South Africa two years ago. I finally figured out what to do with it! The fabrics in the quilt are about half African and half American. I've machine quilted it a bit, to stabilize it. I plan to quilt it with pearl cotton to add texture. (you can click on any of my pictures to enlarge them)

Wow, I love the colors in your quilt. I went to South Africa last spring and your piece really reflects the colors (the sunsets with all the iron in the atmosphere) and textures of what I saw while on safari (the trees, the grasses, the stripes on the zebras, etc.). The elephants were inspiring - the way their families mean so much to their lives, the way they care for each other and the emotions they show. Thanks for reminding me of my great vacation.

I like your work a lot. Do you ever do throw pillows?
